The DNS (Domain Name System)
is one of the most important systems on the Internet. Its main function
is to translate between domain names and IP addresses and to list the
MTA (mail transfer agent)
accepting e-mail for each domain. Think of it like the white pages for
the Internet. The DNS is a hierarchical database that manages the
Internet namespace, distributed over thousands of servers worldwide.
This namespace is divided into zones, of which each is under the
